On December 14, the House of Representatives passed the $886 billion National Defense Authorization Act by a vote of 310-118, an unheard-of bipartisan margin in a era when a proposal to recognize the Girl Scouts is likely to break along party lines. (Even the nays were bipartisan, with 45 Democrats and 73 Republicans opposed, albeit from the far reaches of each party.)
Thanks. I've been writing for a couple of years now that Republicans have a far bigger problem than Democrats. Assuming Democrats turn out to vote...which, alas, has become an iffier question than it should be...Republicans need to attract two separate constituencies to win, and one of those two, the MAGA wing and suburban voters, will often bolt if a candidate tries to appeal to the other. This amendment is an attempt to get a foot on either side of that divide. I expect to see more of this sort of thing as we get closer to the election.
Larry's analytical posts about politics are on point, are brief, are well written, and provide valuable information I don't get elsewhere.
Also, he has no "paid' option.
This post is a great example of his work.
Haha. Thank you, David. It's not easy to make me blush.
Thank you Lawrence. Your insight is always welcome and refreshingly honest and clear!
You're welcome, JNG. I'm always trying to figure out what's going on under the surface. These Trump Republicans often make it not all that hard.
Good to see so many cowards working the shadowlands of constitutional restraint. Nicely doxxed.
